Palette

The Predator:

At 14, she was unexplored, untouched, unfelt. The colors of the world were monochrome, sepia or at best a touch of tan.The sun tan was evenly spread, the interruptions were out of the way and the feeling was sublime.

On hindsight,it was perhaps the beauty of the moment that painted the picture in my mind. The first shades of my personality were painted on that beautiful sight.I was stepping into the age of freedom from shackles and curfews.

The moon chose to hide and the stars shied away,I followed my prey.
The momentary lapse of reason had strong roots in chaos, hurt and pain.A childhood betrayed, beaten and frayed. The urge was intense, the assault brutal.

The scuffle graduated into a battle, and the veins revolted in pain.I could take it no longer, but had no one to restrain.I bit the nape, pinned the hands and covered her body with mine. The moment was nigh, and the kill almost done, just then…

The prey:

I fought back with rage, grabbed the vase and smashed his head,he trickled down my heaving fear and erupting heart. Those battered nerves ,poured strength into my mind,I slayed my perpetrator and left him behind.

Gyanban Thoughts : The story is based on the progression of a color palette from white, grey, black, orange and red. Each shade depicting a state of mind , inocence, confusion, rage, etc. This piece of writing was again from an experimental standpoint. Trying to push the envelop and explore new ways of story-telling.

Countdown

5 years in solitary confinement.
4 years in a padded cell.
3 years in rigourous imprisonment.
2 years in a regular prison
1 year in judicial custody.
Day 0 – parole turned down.

Countdowns are however always the same for both the lives.
Some guilty lives are forever innocent and some innocent lives are forever guilty.

Gyanban Thoughts -  this 55 fiction tries to capture the ironies of freedom.Classics like Papillion and Shawshank Redemption are some examples of how freedom serves as the sole motivation to sustain the rigours of prison. Beyond a point whether one is guilty or innocent does not matter - what matters is when will the parole come their way? History is replete with instances where innocent lives have been lost along side the guilty ones, to the shackles of time.

Chains

When darkness lights up the sky

When the stillness of the photograph talks

I see you near me being so far away

When ink dries on paper my story begins,

When the last drop dries my thirst bursts

I feel you inside me yet feel so hollow

When roads turn to nowhere,

When the fork leads to a cliff, my flight begins,

I fly with you yet you are on a different path

When steps that lead to the door become infinite,

When the door opens to infinity

I look at your lost eyes, try to find myself in them

When the final breath empties my life,

When the final beat misses it’s journey

I leave your heart with my memories…

Gyanban Thoughts - A few lines for those seeking light from darkness. It is an attempt to feel what it is to be not felt, not get what is wanted.I recently read a few disturbing articles about how some people feel so trapped yet cannot break away, they feel so strongly about someone yet cannot get them to realise the same. They spend thier lives hoping ,wishing and praying that someday it will all turnaround.

Return ... To Innocence

‘Just a few days more & Barbie would be gone’ mama said coldly.

‘Don’t worry I am there with you always' said little Lisa consoling.

Lisa looked up innocently and asked her mother ‘but at least will her hair grow back?’

Mamma could not bear this any longer and she silently sobbed in the corner of the room.

Lisa went into her own little world.

‘Just a few more days and I will have to leave’ said Barbie.

‘But why can’t you stay with me’ Lisa argued.

‘I will make sure your hair grows back Barbie and you will look beautiful just like before...’

Eight days later Lisa left Barbie doll in the hospital, never to return again.

Gyan Ban Thoughts - In the year 2000, approximately 256,000 children and adults around the world developed some form of leukemia, and 209,000 died from it. Hair loss, excessive bleeding, acute depression and fatigue are the most common Chemotherapy side effects.Family members are left in utter despair to see their child suffer endlessly every single day as they watch helplessly.

Hoping the pain would go away, but knowing it would also mean death.

In our daily materialistic lives,we keep running and become oblivious to things that don't affect us. At least ,let us take a moment to go visit a nearby hospital and help in cheering up their lives. It need not be monetary benefit, it could be a simple greeting card just to make them smile for that one moment - which I can promise, you will cherish forever.
